JPII earns winning title for diocesan basketball tournament

John Paul II School’s Knights basketball team won the diocesan basketball tournament earlier this past January and recently received their banner and trophy. The eighth grade team ended with a record of 14-6, seventh grade had a record of 8-0, and sixth had a record of 9-5 for an overall team record of 31-11. The Knights are coached by Kirk Greenwell, Jerri Floyd, Derek Mills, and Shawn Greenwell.
The diocesan tournament, which is open to the teams of all 17 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Owensboro, saw participants this year from John Paul II School in Morganfield, St. Joseph Catholic School in Bowling Green, St. Romuald Interparochial School in Hardinsburg, and St. Mary of the Woods School in Whitesville. The tournament was hosted in Whitesville this year.
