Trusting the Lord in ‘all seasons of life,’ Morganfield women’s retreat helps attendees surrender their lives to Christ

BY RILEY GREIF, THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC

The St. Ann Parish Hall in Morganfield was full on Saturday, Feb. 8 with more than 230 women from across western Kentucky sipping coffee, visiting vendors, meeting new people, and reuniting with old friends as the annual Joy, Laughter, and Holiness Women’s Retreat began. The day featured national and local speakers, prayer, praise and worship, and the opportunity to go to confession. Speakers included Ellen Salter of Sacred Life Ministry, Tasha Gordon owner of Pax Rosa, and Toni Pierson.

This is the fourth year St. Ann Parish has hosted the retreat. One of the organizers, Beth Hendrickson, told The Western Kentucky Catholic that the team didn’t give any specific theme for the speakers to focus on, but noted the Holy Spirit’s guidance in each speaker choosing to highlight the importance of surrendering our life and experiences to Christ.

Donna Dorth, a parishioner of St. Mary of the Woods in Whiteville, traveled to Morganfield for the second year in a row for the retreat day.  She shared that her main takeaway for the day was “to trust in the Lord in all seasons of life.” She mentioned to anyone who may consider attending in the future to “please come, you will feel the love.”
