Thirty-six scouts and adults from Troop 2007, chartered by St. Thomas More Parish in Paducah, attended Skymont Scout Reservation in the Appalachian Mountains for Scout Camp during the week of June 7-13.
In scouting, young people learn and explore the outdoors, science, safety, life skills, national pride, reverence, service to their community, and identifying their own potential. Experiences at Skymont included everything from nuclear science, weather, knot tying, emergency preparedness, hiking, ziplining, paddle boarding, whitewater rafting, fishing, camping, shooting sports, learning to work together, leading prayer for the entire camp, and honor guard flag ceremony.
Troop 2007 and individual scouts received two recognitions for bravery, extending welcome to others, best campsite, and Scoutmaster Dessert Award.
The motto of Scouting America is:
“On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
