‘A scout is reverent’ – Religious emblems presented at Mass

Scouting religious awards for the Diocese of Owensboro were presented by Bishop William F. Medley on March 16, 2025, at the Scouting Religious Emblem Mass at St. Anthony Parish in Utica/Browns Valley.  The religious emblems presented were earned by scouts through the National Catholic Committee on Scouting Religious Emblem Program. Scouting America Cub and Scouts have studied for months, researching their faith and performing works of service.  The recipients for the Religious Emblems include:

Light of Christ: Riley Brumley P2007 and Paul Hardy P602

Parvuli Dei: James Hardy P602

Ad Alteri Dei: Troop 2007 (Proctored by Dcn. Jerry Stoverink) Javier Bautista, Dylan Molina, and Matthew Scarpino

Pope Pius XII: Troop 2007 (Proctored by Steve Shoulta) William Babbs, Andrew Byrne, Aiden Chino, Hunter Korte, Cooper Richison, Riley Richison, and Kobee Seay

In addition to earning their perspective religious emblems, five scouts from Troop 2007 earned the Pray the Rosary Patch from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting, including William Babbs, Javier Bautista, Andrew Byrne, Dylan Molina, and Riley Richison.

Sheri Babbs serves as the chaplain for Troop 2007.
