St. Mary Magdalene Parish celebrates pastor for coming from afar to serve their community
BY LAVIDA MISCHEL, SPECIAL TO THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC
Pastor appreciation takes on a whole new meaning when your pastor’s “yes” takes him over 9,000 miles from his family, home, and country to serve your parish. Realizing his sacrifice, on Oct.1 – a beautiful fall day – parishioners at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Sorgho celebrated their pastor, Fr. Augusty Valomchalil, who came from India to serve Catholics in the Diocese of Owensboro, Kentucky. As our parishes continue to welcome missionary priests, let us all truly appreciate their commitment and sacrifice.
